Terry Kinzel
Age: 59
Disciplines: Commuting, road riding for pleasure,
mountain bike
Experience: Chain Drive 4 or 5 times, otherwise
complete novice
Occupation: Physician
Professional and personal:
Born in Detroit, I came to MTU in 1967, left for
my medical education, returned and have been here
since. Currently am cutting back on my practice
and will probably retire within a couple of years.
My daughter, Karla Kingsley, inspired me to join
the team. I was her support team last year at Wausau
and really enjoyed the spirit of all the Copper
Country folks there. My interests outside of medicine
include conservation (I was one of the founders
of the Keweenaw Land Trust), renewable energy, building
trails, raising chickens and geese and along with
my wife, Sue Ellen Kingsley, human rights in Central
America, especially Guatemala.
Racing goals:
Finish at least eight races this summer while staying
healthy and increasing my strength and endurance.
Also, I've finished at least one marathon in each
of my last 3 decades, so I'd like to do one more
in my 60s.
